MOSCOW (RNWire) – ACI World (Airports Council International ) announced preliminary 2006 performance results of airports around the world. According to the report, Domodedovo International Airport was rated 85th in the world in terms of passenger traffic, rising four places compared to 2005. Domodedovo has taken the 23rd position among the European airports in the rating of 2006 (compared to the 25th position in 2005) being the largest airport in Eastern Europe.
'Domodedovo's positions are constantly reasserted. And this is only natural due to the arrival of new airlines and the growing passenger flow. However, from the quality point of view, development trends of the airport itself are of great importance as well.' says Ms. Anna Krasnova, PR Director of EAST LINE Group. 'The total area of the airport was enlarged by 20 per cent in 2006, and the number of check-in desks increased by 60 per cent, from 66 to 109. Passenger traffic has augmented by 10 per cent within the same period. We endeavour to ensure that the quality of services advances well ahead of the passenger traffic growth. This is the major feature of our success.'
According to the monthly ACI Europe rating, in February 2007 Domodedovo International Airport has managed to maintain its leadership in the growth rate amongst European airports of Group 2, whose passenger traffic varies between 10 and 25 million people a year.
Domodedovo holds the first line of the rating as the most dynamically developing airport of Group 2 with 20.5 per cent growth in February 2007 compared to February 2006. The second position is held by Prague airport (18.3 per cent). Dublin Airport is the third in the list (13.5 per cent). The average growth rate for the group in February 2007 compared to February 2006 is 6.9 per cent. |
